How to wear disposable gloves?

Wear dry gloves method

Before wearing disposable gloves, clean and dry the hands. Handle the gloves by the cuff, avoid touching the outside surface unnecessarily, insert each hand carefully, and pull the cuff into place without tearing the material.

Wearing double gloves

Double gloving is used for specific tasks and procedures rather than as a universal substitute for selecting the correct glove. Follow the applicable clinical protocol.

Changing gloves

After contact with a suspected contaminated area or item, change gloves before touching a clean area or another patient. Remove gloves before contacting non-contaminated items and clean the hands promptly.

Duration of glove wear

Do not wear disposable gloves longer than the procedure or task requires. Replace them when damaged, contaminated, or when moving between incompatible tasks.

Glove removal

Remove gloves carefully without touching the contaminated outside surface with bare skin. Turn them inward during removal, discard them in the correct waste stream, and clean the hands afterward.
